Just Focus on What is Important for You: Don’t Let Challenges Distract You
Have Clarity about Your Goals
First and foremost, it is important that you have absolute clarity about what you ‘really’ want to achieve in your life. You have to have a clear vision for yourself. You have to set clear goals for yourself.
Most people will not be able to understand you and see the vision or goals that you have set for yourself. That is totally fine. That should not discourage you. Your goals and vision should differentiate you from majority of other persons.
People will compare you with themselves and with others. Don’t compare yourself with others because you are ‘unique.’ Each person is unique in himself or herself.
Quite often, other persons will talk about you (sometime in front of you but most of the time at your back). They will question your vision, and your goals. Many people will even try to discourage you. They will directly or indirectly bring it to your notice that you are good for nothing. From their perspective, you are good for nothing because you are not doing what they want you to do and what everyone else is doing.
If you also start doing what most other persons are doing, then how would you differentiate yourself.
At times, others will undermine you and your capabilities because they see you from their perspective. They cannot see things and the world from your perspective. They have their own narrow perspective. Let them feel good by thinking and doing what they think is right. Others’ views and actions should not impact you.
At times, some people will create obstacles in your path. They will not let you do many things because they have fear that you can become better than them or achieve more than them. Don’t let such people, or your life’s circumstances, demotivate you. Don’t let others to dictate what you can and can not do.
Keep Working Hard
It is not easy to go through such experiences when people undermine you and try to derail you. Sometimes wait looks endless. Frustration and hopelessness take over at times. You feel that you have been working hard for so long but not getting the desirable results. At times, there are feelings of self-doubt and helplessness. Many questions come to your mind: Am I doing the right thing? Am I moving in the right direction? Am I good enough?
You will have to deal at various levels: (1) with your internal turmoil, (2) peer and social pressure, (3) challenges in the way of your goals and (4) other challenges that you face in life.
At times, difficult situations and people will slow you down, drag you. But don’t stop. Don’t let others dictate what you can and cannot achieve. It is your life, only you should have the right to decide what you want to achieve.
Don’t pay attention to the persons who are trying to derail you. They don’t deserve your time and attention. Don’t let yourself get distracted. Keep moving, keep working hard. No matter how long and tough your path may be, there is always light at the end.
So, have belief in yourself and full faith in the Almighty. Focus on your work and your goals. Keep working hard no matter what kind of problems you face. Ultimately, you will be able to achieve whatever goals you have set for yourself.
